July Already?

Yikes, July so soon? Where’s the time gone? Oh yeah, school. My 6 week in-class course ended last week, so now I’ve just got my online classes for the rest of the summer. Woo.

Getting ready to help Josh move on Wednesday. He only gets a half day off work, though, so we can’t start until 2pm-ish, but he doesn’t have much stuff so it won’t take that long. Peggy & Richard are going to be there too so it’ll be fine.

Happy belated Canada Day!

Spent the last few days working out how to make little pouch bags. Got a pattern worked out, and 8 finished bags made, which I added to my site.

Not much else new. Still not king.

Product Review – Girly Stuff

Today’s review: Veet “Rasera”™ Hair Removal Gel Cream

Ok, actually, the review isn’t about that. It’s about the “Rasera” that comes with it – the plastic and rubber bladeless razor that you use to remove the cream/hair from your skin.

It’s great! I don’t shave my legs. I have them sugared when I can (ie when I’m in Kincardine and my mom pays for it) and the rest of the time I use a cream of some sort, usually Nair because it’s cheap. I only got this Veet stuff because the drugstore didn’t have the unscented Nair I use, and I wanted to try the little bladeless razor.

It’s way easier than using a washcloth to remove the cream, and it’s kinda fun! Being able to cleanly remove the cream without a messy cloth, and using a “razor” with no worries about cutting myself is nifty.

Not sure if I’d ever buy the Veet again. It worked just fine, but it’s kinda expensive, and I prefer a squeeze tube/bottle to a pressurized bottle. But I’m definitely keeping the “Rasera” to use again, no matter what brand I use. ^_^

Random Question of the Day

Why do some people insist on signing their name to forum posts? We see your name when we read your post. We know it’s you! You don’t have to keep telling us.

My favourite are the ones who sign their name at the end of a post, and also have their name as their signature.

I’m taking 5 online classes this summer. The online “conferencing” is set up like an old-school “threaded” (ie not flat) forum. You see the person’s name next to the message title before you even see the message. Then you see their name above their message.

One of my profs keeps signing her name at the end of all her messages, but never even uses a closing period or even a carriage return, so her final sentence always ends with her name.

Gah.

To Busy to Blog? Say it isn’t so!

If anyone’s wondering, I had a very nice birthday last weekend! ^_^ 24 now, go me!

Went to a wedding that weekend, too. Josh’s step-brother’s wedding. It was actually pretty nice, and the rain held off until the end of the ceremony (unlike my cousin’s wedding last year, heh), but there were still lots of “we’re not doing that at ours” moments.

Busy with summer semester classes, too. Most are online, though, so it’s not too bad.
We’ve started biking to our one class that is at school, though. Saves money on parking and gas, and gets us excersizing. The first day of class, we discovered just how woefully out of shape we all were. Getting better, now. I should drag out the home DDR set and do that more often, too.

Busy with the site, too. Getting ready for my next (last?) big move. Yup, that’s right, changing again. Bad business practice, but it turns out the company that owns kittycaps.com is starting up a business that makes hats for cats. Seriously. I found that out when I wrote a letter to the company owner to ask if I could buy kittycaps.com (because people can’t remember the .ca extension). I really don’t feel like competing with that sort of thing; thought it’s not technically competition since it’s a completely different product and market. I just figure it’s similar enough to confuse the people who already aren’t sure how to find me, so I’m eleminating the possibility. I’m hoping to be able to scrape together enough money to actually trademark my new name, not just register it with the government. That’s like $300, though, so we’ll have to see.

Our house is full of crickets. I hate crickets. I hate them more in my house.
The guy who lives in the basement (the landlord’s son) was renovating all last fall/winter, so the ground-level windows were off the house for about 4 or 5 months, so we figure the original ones got in then since that’s when we started occasionally hearing cricket chirps in the wall by the stairs. This past week, however, they’ve been coming out of the woodwork. Literally. At least two must have gotten in and gotten busy, and now they’re proud parents because in the past 4 days we’ve killed 17 crickets and found 3 more dead in a spider web under a step. Up until yesterday it was kinda funny, because we were having a competition between the 3 of us to see who could “hunt” and kill the most (we use a dustbuster!), but yesterday there was 7 of the 10, and it went from “annoyingly amusing” to “downright stupid” so now we’re gonna call the landlord and complain about the infestation. It’s gone well beyond a reasonable “bugs in the house” level.
Stupid crickets.

Someday, I want to not be poor, and live in a house where only I, Josh, and the cat(s) live. No roaches (Jane & Finch appt.), no squirrels or raccoons (basement appt.), no ants (Josh’s appt.), and no crickets (here). Gah.

Today

My grandpa was in surgery for 6 hours today for his quadruple bypass. He’s had 3 heart attacks in the past 3 months.

He was supposed to be done around 12 or 1:00. We haven’t heard anything yet, so I guess that’s a good sign.

OH NOES! DA TERRORZ!

Terror symbol Interpretations.
A site of warning symbols taken from a real (?) US government site, and given better meanings.

It’s been posted many times, but it’s worth posting again. It made me laugh out loud for a good 5 minutes, much the the annoyance of Josh and the cat. ^_^

Sample:

If you spot terrorism, blow your anti-terrorism whistle. If you are Vin Diesel, yell really loud.
