Random Update on My Life

Haven’t posted much lately. I’ve been busy.

Today we went to Costco in Kitchener because Robyn has a membership card. I found Futurama seasons 2 and 3 DVDs for $29.99 each (regular retail ~$47.99) so I had to buy them. Now I need to find the first season somewhere for equally cheap. Oh yes.

Still in the process of turning AFC into Kitty Caps. When I’m done the new site I’ll probably ask for volunteer to test it out. ^_~

Selling several things on eBay to try and get a bit of money for this semesters textbooks. Probably nothing anyone who reads this wants, but feel free to take a peek. Most of those items are actually being sold for Paul; only the costume and wig are mine.I’ll also be selling my 256MB MP3 player soon, since I got the iPod for Christmas. I got it for $70 on eBay two months ago, and they currently retail in stores around $99-$139 (I was also at FutureShop and Best Buy today), so I’ll probably try and get $50-60 for it. I’m so broke. If you’re wondering why I bought an MP3 player and DVDs if I’m so broke, the MP3 player was a business expense because I had nothing to listed to while sewing in the living room; not even the radio. All the radio channels on TV are ass. And frankly, $50 DVDs on for $30 is far too good to pass up, especially when you’ve been saving up to buy said DVDs.

I really want to advertise AFC/KC again, to bring it more cash, but
a) I’d rather wait until the new site/name change is complete
b) I’m afraid of what happened in the spring happening again (90+ orders in 3 days; took me all summer to catch up)

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to discover the LJ photo gallery. Here’s mine. I just played around with layouts for a bit, and uploaded photos of Dax. ^_^ More photos of my cat than you ever need to see! Yay! ^_~

School starts next week. I’ll post my schedule for this semester in a separate post, as this one’s already long.

I’m going to go try to clean my room a bit more now. I’d like to have it all the way done by the time I start school again, but things keep happening.

Post-Op Report #1

I’m feeling pretty good now. A little dopey from the T3s, but not too bad.

I’m glad I don’t mind needles. It was a surprise that I got the anesthetic via IV. I just though I’d get the kind of gaseous anesthetic that people with Malignant Hyperthermia can use. Guess not. they used a teeny, tiny needle, though, so I didn’t feel it at all once it was in the back of my hand. [side note: Lj’s spellcheck does not accept the word "hyperthermia". It wants to make it "hypothermia", which rather changes the meaning ^_~]

I have no jawline or chin to speak of anymore. My face sort of just goes straight down from my ears to my neck, and just merges in somehow. It kind of looks like I’ve gained 50 pounds or something. I keep taking ibuprofen to reduce the swelling, and it’s working a bit. That’s why my face just goes straight down into my neck, instead of having large chipmunk cheeks.

I’m so sick of soup. I don’t even like soup, really. There’s a very few I’ll actually eat, which really limits my choices. I’ve been living off of vanilla pudding (to take my T3s) and Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup for the past 3 days. Tonight I’m going all out, so I’m going to try some instant mashed potatoes. Go me!

My teeth feel so gross it’s not even funny. I can’t open my mouth far enough to get a toothbrush in far enough to reach the teeth right next to my surgical sites, without ramming the bristles into the stitches, which hurts and is strongly discouraged by the dentist. ^_~ I think a new type of moss is evolving back there now.

Rinsing with warm salt water is beyond disgusting. And that’s coming from the girl who adds salt to everything. If it weren’t for the moss, I’d skip this part. o_0

I don’t know if this is supposed to be "Day 3" or "Day 4". I forgot to ask if the day of the operation was supposed to be counted as "Day 1" or "Day 0". It’s not one of those things yuo think of when you’re just waking up from the anesthesia. The brochure I have, and anecdotes from friends, say I should have my "worst" days, pain-wise, on Day 3 and Day 4. Yesterday was fine, and today seems about the same, so I can’t tell.

T3s make it hard for me to think in terms of numbers. Or letters. This entry will have so many spelling mistakes before I run the spell check it won’t even be funny.

I also hear it’ll be really fun when the stitches start to dissolve, because it’s different inside your mouth than it is elsewhere on your body (you know, where there’s not tongues and saliva to "help" them along). On that note, if it’s up to me I’d never get the "normal" stitches used on me if I can help it.

I can peek inside my mouth with the tiny flashlight on my keychain. I don’t have "holes" so much as just a smooth surface att eh back, where teeth used to be. This is a good thing.

It’s my journal, I can ramble incoherently if I want to.

Say “Ahhhhh”.

I’m off to the dentist in about half an hour, to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out.
I don’t know exactly what to expect, since everyone who’s talked to me about it was down for different lengths of time and whatnot.

I figure as long as I get put out entirely (which I opted for) and I get those dissolving stitches (*crosses fingers*) I’ll be fine.

Chipmunk-faced, but fine. ^_^EDIT: I am home and fine (for now). I probably won’t be online much.

Random Thoughts…

Sitting here, alternating between studying for my physics final, and trying to wrap my brain around php and mysql.
Got to thinking.
Since I’m changing the site a fair amount anyway, maybe I should change my name to something that doesn’t make reference to something completely unrelated to what I do.
It’s a little late in the game, but it’s still legally a hobby, so the only cost incured by changing would be things like business cards, address labels, and my domain name.

Hrmm. I built the website around the name, but I just picked the name because I liked it. It was never “OMG that’s the perfect name for a custom hat business”!

I think it’s a ruse by my brain to make me not study. Even so, it’s definitely worth some thought. I’ve been planning to register as a business next year (probably around tax time, when accountants and financial advisors com out of the woodwork with cheap rates to talk to them), and when I do I need to be sure of my name.

Innovative Idea

Here’s a pretty cool take on an old invention: Pierced Eyeglasses

I think it looks pretty good, actually. The guy isn’t to my taste, but the look of the glasses, just sitting there on the nose is nice. Except when he takes the glasses off. Then it’s kinda creepy looking. I’m not big on facial piercings.

With MP3 jackets and glasses that are anchored directly to your face, what’s next?

Whoa…

Last night I dreamed that I was at my computer working on my new AFC site.
I think when you start dreaming about the website you’re working on, including dreaming about specific code you should add, and where to add it….

It’s a sign you should step back.
Nah, just kidding. It’s a sign you’re almost done, and the only time you should take off from doing it is to study for exams. ^_~

Snow Day

Paul and I just went outside and made a snowman. The head ended up looking a bit like Barney, so we went with that and made it a Dino-snowman! We even took my silver hairspray and painted his eyes, nose, and mouth as we had no veggies to put on him. Large onions don’t look so great on a snowman.

Yay for snowmen! ^_^
