Random question:
If someone from around 300 years in the future came to you, what would it take to convince you that they are indeed from the future?
This question assumes that:
a) you didn’t seem them *pop* into the present in some sort of sci-fi flash or something, and
b) that you don’t normally trust random crazy-sounding strangers enough to just blindly follow them into their time machine to actually go into the future to see for yourself until you have reason to believe them.
I would ask them to provide several perfectly accurate predictions about random or pseudo-random events in the very short run, such as high liquidity stock prices. Of course, this assumes they would have the ability to communicate with their own time, or that they brought such data along with them.
The only really believable alternative would be predictions about important historical events in the near future. But that would probably take a lot longer to verify, and would be much easier to spoof.
You give me a hover board, and I don’t have you committed.
I think the moral here is that everyone would be satisfied by Back to the Future?
I require some form of magical technology, yes.
Realistically, you provide me with enough cash, and I’ll believe anything you say.
For what period of time prior to Feb 7th 2106 did the world get in to a panic about their software?
If they look at me blankly then they’re a fake because any time traveller should know the significance of that date.
(think Y2K, it’s that kind of problem)
I had to look up that 2106 thing. No fair making me learn stuff.
