Does anyone know how to make colours in hex “lighter”? I don’t.
I use this site and this site to get hex codes. the second one is great because it colour-schemes them, and it does have a “lighten” feature, but it lightens too much. One click of the lighten button makes E4EAFC look white.
E4EAFC is the colour of the boxes, but it looks too dark as the background. Things “blend in” too much.
In other news, I’m not sure what to do about my “characters” hats. They are what people most request for new hats, and currently match “critter” hats in terms of sales. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure the fact that I make money from selling them pushes them out of the realm of “fanart” and more into “copyright infringment”. o_0 Continue selling hats that look like and are named after characters? Use names like “White MoonCat” instead of “Artemis from Sailor Moon” and be reduced to cheap knock-off status? Scrap the line entirely?
Blah.
I’m inclined to keep going, since the whole cosplay “industry” is based on making things that look like specific characters, and from what people say most Japanese companies don’t mind it because it’s still publicity, but that doesn’t make it any more “right”.
I was all set to go get my ears pierced again this week. I was going to have the helices (cartilage) of my ears done, so I can put little hoops there. Because I want to.
Then I realised that it’s winter, and I cram a hat on my head every day, which is not terribly conductive to not touching the holes to let them heal. Especially as cartilage piercings apparently take 2-6 months to heal instead of the “regular” 6 weeks or so for lobe piercings.
OMGWTFBBQ?! The woman once known as “Jane Roe” has asked the Supreme Court to overturn its landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion 32 years ago.
Please let me know what the site looks like now. This may require a refresh ^_~
Unregistered users should see a default site like the image I post yesterday. Registered users should also see that layout, and should not have the ability to switch layouts. Is this currently correct? (And in case you’re wondering, yes, the banner is just a placeholder until I have time to make something good)
What does this site look like to you? I thought I’d set the default layout how I wanted it, but I viewed my site here at Josh’s place this weekend, and it was set to some other layout. 😛 It’s supposed to look like this. If you have an account and it gives you the option to select a layout, please let me know. It’s not supposed to, but if it does please set it to “Clean”. If you don’t have an account, please post if it looks different for you than the screenshot I post above.
Not that my layout is anything amazing yet, as the layout of my journal is kinda low down on my priorities list, but this is the layout I’ll be tweaking when I do have time to work on it, and I’d like everyone to be on the same page, so to speak.
Not much to report.Back at school now. It’s not so bad, but I’m still in a physics class (the second half the the one I took last semester). At least Calculus is gone forever. Bwahaha! I’ll post my schedule as soon as I’m sure it’s not going to change on me. ^_^
Besides trying to sell things on eBay, I’ve mostly been making hats whenever I can grab a few minutes to spare. I’m trying to build up a small stock pile of bases (hats without the ears) at least, so I’ll have some on hand when I can finally advertise the new site.Speaking of which, kittycaps.ca is on track, and should be ready for launch at the end of January (I hope).
I think the Lain one is the most adorable hat ever. ^_^ The beige around the nose isn’t really that lumpy, that’s just how the fabric is folding :/ The panda’s not quite finished – those eye patched are not actually sewn on yet, and it’ll have little eyes on the black, and maybe a little nose like the Lain one, too.
Today we went to Costco in Kitchener because Robyn has a membership card. I found Futurama seasons 2 and 3 DVDs for $29.99 each (regular retail ~$47.99) so I had to buy them. Now I need to find the first season somewhere for equally cheap. Oh yes.
Still in the process of turning AFC into Kitty Caps. When I’m done the new site I’ll probably ask for volunteer to test it out. ^_~
Selling several things on eBay to try and get a bit of money for this semesters textbooks. Probably nothing anyone who reads this wants, but feel free to take a peek. Most of those items are actually being sold for Paul; only the costume and wig are mine.I’ll also be selling my 256MB MP3 player soon, since I got the iPod for Christmas. I got it for $70 on eBay two months ago, and they currently retail in stores around $99-$139 (I was also at FutureShop and Best Buy today), so I’ll probably try and get $50-60 for it. I’m so broke. If you’re wondering why I bought an MP3 player and DVDs if I’m so broke, the MP3 player was a business expense because I had nothing to listed to while sewing in the living room; not even the radio. All the radio channels on TV are ass. And frankly, $50 DVDs on for $30 is far too good to pass up, especially when you’ve been saving up to buy said DVDs.
I really want to advertise AFC/KC again, to bring it more cash, but a) I’d rather wait until the new site/name change is complete b) I’m afraid of what happened in the spring happening again (90+ orders in 3 days; took me all summer to catch up)
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to discover the LJ photo gallery. Here’s mine. I just played around with layouts for a bit, and uploaded photos of Dax. ^_^ More photos of my cat than you ever need to see! Yay! ^_~
School starts next week. I’ll post my schedule for this semester in a separate post, as this one’s already long.
I’m going to go try to clean my room a bit more now. I’d like to have it all the way done by the time I start school again, but things keep happening.
I’m feeling pretty good now. A little dopey from the T3s, but not too bad.
I’m glad I don’t mind needles. It was a surprise that I got the anesthetic via IV. I just though I’d get the kind of gaseous anesthetic that people with Malignant Hyperthermia can use. Guess not. they used a teeny, tiny needle, though, so I didn’t feel it at all once it was in the back of my hand. [side note: Lj’s spellcheck does not accept the word "hyperthermia". It wants to make it "hypothermia", which rather changes the meaning ^_~]
I have no jawline or chin to speak of anymore. My face sort of just goes straight down from my ears to my neck, and just merges in somehow. It kind of looks like I’ve gained 50 pounds or something. I keep taking ibuprofen to reduce the swelling, and it’s working a bit. That’s why my face just goes straight down into my neck, instead of having large chipmunk cheeks.
I’m so sick of soup. I don’t even like soup, really. There’s a very few I’ll actually eat, which really limits my choices. I’ve been living off of vanilla pudding (to take my T3s) and Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup for the past 3 days. Tonight I’m going all out, so I’m going to try some instant mashed potatoes. Go me!
My teeth feel so gross it’s not even funny. I can’t open my mouth far enough to get a toothbrush in far enough to reach the teeth right next to my surgical sites, without ramming the bristles into the stitches, which hurts and is strongly discouraged by the dentist. ^_~ I think a new type of moss is evolving back there now.
Rinsing with warm salt water is beyond disgusting. And that’s coming from the girl who adds salt to everything. If it weren’t for the moss, I’d skip this part. o_0
I don’t know if this is supposed to be "Day 3" or "Day 4". I forgot to ask if the day of the operation was supposed to be counted as "Day 1" or "Day 0". It’s not one of those things yuo think of when you’re just waking up from the anesthesia. The brochure I have, and anecdotes from friends, say I should have my "worst" days, pain-wise, on Day 3 and Day 4. Yesterday was fine, and today seems about the same, so I can’t tell.
T3s make it hard for me to think in terms of numbers. Or letters. This entry will have so many spelling mistakes before I run the spell check it won’t even be funny.
I also hear it’ll be really fun when the stitches start to dissolve, because it’s different inside your mouth than it is elsewhere on your body (you know, where there’s not tongues and saliva to "help" them along). On that note, if it’s up to me I’d never get the "normal" stitches used on me if I can help it.
I can peek inside my mouth with the tiny flashlight on my keychain. I don’t have "holes" so much as just a smooth surface att eh back, where teeth used to be. This is a good thing.
It’s my journal, I can ramble incoherently if I want to.
