Say “Ahhhhh”.

I’m off to the dentist in about half an hour, to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out.
I don’t know exactly what to expect, since everyone who’s talked to me about it was down for different lengths of time and whatnot.

I figure as long as I get put out entirely (which I opted for) and I get those dissolving stitches (*crosses fingers*) I’ll be fine.

Chipmunk-faced, but fine. ^_^EDIT: I am home and fine (for now). I probably won’t be online much.

Random Thoughts…

Sitting here, alternating between studying for my physics final, and trying to wrap my brain around php and mysql.
Got to thinking.
Since I’m changing the site a fair amount anyway, maybe I should change my name to something that doesn’t make reference to something completely unrelated to what I do.
It’s a little late in the game, but it’s still legally a hobby, so the only cost incured by changing would be things like business cards, address labels, and my domain name.

Hrmm. I built the website around the name, but I just picked the name because I liked it. It was never “OMG that’s the perfect name for a custom hat business”!

I think it’s a ruse by my brain to make me not study. Even so, it’s definitely worth some thought. I’ve been planning to register as a business next year (probably around tax time, when accountants and financial advisors com out of the woodwork with cheap rates to talk to them), and when I do I need to be sure of my name.

Innovative Idea

Here’s a pretty cool take on an old invention: Pierced Eyeglasses

I think it looks pretty good, actually. The guy isn’t to my taste, but the look of the glasses, just sitting there on the nose is nice. Except when he takes the glasses off. Then it’s kinda creepy looking. I’m not big on facial piercings.

With MP3 jackets and glasses that are anchored directly to your face, what’s next?

Whoa…

Last night I dreamed that I was at my computer working on my new AFC site.
I think when you start dreaming about the website you’re working on, including dreaming about specific code you should add, and where to add it….

It’s a sign you should step back.
Nah, just kidding. It’s a sign you’re almost done, and the only time you should take off from doing it is to study for exams. ^_~

Snow Day

Paul and I just went outside and made a snowman. The head ended up looking a bit like Barney, so we went with that and made it a Dino-snowman! We even took my silver hairspray and painted his eyes, nose, and mouth as we had no veggies to put on him. Large onions don’t look so great on a snowman.

Yay for snowmen! ^_^

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3…

Testing top banner sizes to see how big it be without looking stupid.

Welcome to my new journal!

Welcome to my new journal (version 0.3)! I’m trying out Geeklog as my new software. It lets me have a user image, and it allows comments, which were pretty much my requirements. Now I just need to make it look pretty…

I hope this works out. It was a pain in the ass to install because the directory tree of the download needed to be modified, and that fact wasn’t mentioned anywhere. The contents of one subdirectory had to be moved up to the main one. When I figured it out, it made perfect sence, but I can’t figure out why it wasn’t like that in the download. Oh well. It works now, that’s all I care about.

A Weekend Away – Synopsis

Josh and I got back from London around noon today. Traffic on the 401 was pretty good, so we made great time, unlike our trip to London on Saturday. On the way there, there was some oh-so-wonderful construction on the 401, bottle-necking it down to a single lane.
One!
One lane on the 401 West.
Insanity.
Insanity I tell you.

Anyway, when we finally made it there, it was all good. Jim hadn’t arrived yet, so Josh and Shane and I all went out for dinner at Kelsey’s. It was very good, Josh had a chicken breast sandwhich thingy, Shane has a steak (medium-well, when everyone knows the proper way to eat steak is medium-rare! ^_~ ) and I had the rib and wing combo. Mmmm-mmm! ^_^

Then we went back to Shane’s place, where Josh and Shane played computer games, and I fell asleep on the couch. They woke me up, and we all went out to see Finding Nemo. It was a very good movie, I recommend you all see it! Then we all went home to Shane’s, where I fell asleep again, and Josh and Shane played more computer games.

Jim showed up around 9:20 am Sunday, waking everyone up. ^_^
Much gaming ensued. Including me playing Monster Rancher 2 all day ^_~

All-in-all, it was a very nice weekend. As well, Shane is going to give Josh’s resume to his boss, so hopefully Josh can get a job at StarTech. (*ahem* note to Josh: send your resume to Shane!) That would kick ass. It would mean being apart from Josh for quite some time before I can move to London; I still have 8 months of Seneca, then I’m off to Guelph for a year. This part would suck mightily, but it’s not too far of a drive from here, (and it’s much closer to Guelph) and it would be worth it for Josh to have a good job.
Here’s the fantastical long-range plan we came up with. It would actually kick some pretty sweet ass if it somehow actually worked out like this:
Josh gets job at StarTech. Josh moves to London and rooms with Shane. I stay here in TO with the cat until May, visiting London as much as possible while staying within my gasoline budget.
May rolls around. I go to Guelph for a year, visiting London as much as possible.
Another year passes. Josh and I buy a house in London. We’d like to settle down there anyway. I could possibly get a lab job at the Labatt plant in London, since I’ve worked at the Metro Labatt’s for almost a year now, so I’ve got an in. Even if I can’t get in there, there’s plenty of lab jobs in London for a girl with a diploma, a degree, and a year of industry experience. Shane could rent our basement, which would be a good basement, and not a little hole of a basement like we live in here.
So huzzah. That would be cool. It’s more long-range than most plans, but we’re taking one step at a time. Step One being sending Shane Josh’s resume. ^_~

T’was a good weekend. ^_^
Tomorrow is Canada Day!
