Finally Friday

I spent all day yesterday writing my History final exam. It took all day because it was a take-home essay and not a normal exam, and as such is expected to be exponentially better than any essay that could be written during a normal 2-hour exam.
*whew*

Tonight is my computer exam. After calculating my marks in that class so far for this semester, it turns out I need to score 1% on this exam to pass the class. Of course, I intend on scoring much higher than 1%, but still. ^_^

The past two days have sucked. I’m back in Guelph now, and my allergies have just exploded. Probably because I wasn’t here the whole time to “ease into” a Guelph-style August. Ick. Ow. My poor, poor sinises.

Blah.

Finished!

I am now officially finished my summer semester. Except exams of course, but I’m through with homework and assignments until September.
Woo.

I did really well this semester too. ^_^ Now we’ll see if exams can crush me.

I’m also now officially on the Ortho Evra patch. My Dr. and I decided to switch from the Depo shot ’cause I’d been on it so long, and it’s really not meant to be used any longer than that.
Since pills and I don’t get along, I opted for the Patch. It costs about the same as Depo, except now I have to shoulder the full cost because when I turned 24 my parent’s health plan won’t cover me anymore. The only reason it covered me that long was ’cause I have been continually in school.

The thing i’m definitely going to miss is the lack of periods. I doubt I’ll actually start getting them for a couple months, though, ’cause it’s supposed to take a while after you go off the shot, but who knows. It better take a while.
Hopefully they won’t bring the agony they used to, since this time around they’ll be controlled by external hormones. I don’t fancy walking around in baggy sweaters with a hot water bottle strapped to my abdomen just to be able to stand up again. I’d also prefer not to throw up every month.
Yeah.
I had my reasons for opting for Depo over anything and everything else.

Still. I’m not to keen on the fact I’ll be back among the ranks of beings that bleed for 5 days straight and don’t die. ^_~

I’ll be sure to report any side effects. I didn’t have any at all with Depo, really, except maybe a small amount of weight gain, but I went on it right around the time I was supposed to get the “freshman 15” anyway, so I can’t be sure.
I wonder if I’ll react differently, though, since Evra is progestin + estrogen, whereas Depo was just progestin.

Oh, and if no one’s noticed, Josh has actually updated his blog. A few times, even! He still hasn’t implemented comments, though. *pokes Josh*

Ew.

But it’s full screen and resizes, so hopefully I can tweak it so it’s no longer hideous. I think the comments even work properly in this theme. At least they are not being duplicated. Possibly my wish to not require an email address will work too.

Announcements and Changes

As some of you probably know, Josh and I are now officially engaged! ^_^
The wedding is set for September 23rd, 2006 and will be held in Kincardine. Save the date!
It’s going to be pretty small, only about 50 people at the ceremony, but that’s how we want it.

We’re having the ring custom made, so we don’t have it yet (thus no pics), but for now I have a silver “engagement necklace” with a little amethyst pendant. It’s too hot in here right now to drag out the camera and set up lights to actually get a good shot of it, so no photo of that yet either. Forthcoming.

I got tired of Geeklog, so I’ve switched to WordPress. I like WordPress better; it’s easier to manage on the admin side of things, and easier to customize on the public side of things. ^_^ I managed to snag all my old posts from the geeklog blog, but I wasn’t able to port over the comments, unfortunately.

This is probably not the final layout, though, since I still don’t like fixed-width layouts, but for now this’ll do. I like how I did the top image. ^_^
It works best in Firefox, I think IE messes it up a little bit. Do any of you even still use IE?

Ii tried to make it so an email address is not required to post a comment, but I haven’t been able to get rid of the text that says (required). If someone could let me know if it’s still requiring an email address to post a comment, that would be super, thanks.
That didn’t work, but I think it’s just the theme I happened to choose. :p
It’s now set back to needing an email address.
It also apparently likes to duplicate comments. Whee.

July Already?

Yikes, July so soon? Where’s the time gone? Oh yeah, school. My 6 week in-class course ended last week, so now I’ve just got my online classes for the rest of the summer. Woo.

Getting ready to help Josh move on Wednesday. He only gets a half day off work, though, so we can’t start until 2pm-ish, but he doesn’t have much stuff so it won’t take that long. Peggy & Richard are going to be there too so it’ll be fine.

Happy belated Canada Day!

Spent the last few days working out how to make little pouch bags. Got a pattern worked out, and 8 finished bags made, which I added to my site.

Not much else new. Still not king.

Product Review – Girly Stuff

Today’s review: Veet “Rasera”™ Hair Removal Gel Cream

Ok, actually, the review isn’t about that. It’s about the “Rasera” that comes with it – the plastic and rubber bladeless razor that you use to remove the cream/hair from your skin.

It’s great! I don’t shave my legs. I have them sugared when I can (ie when I’m in Kincardine and my mom pays for it) and the rest of the time I use a cream of some sort, usually Nair because it’s cheap. I only got this Veet stuff because the drugstore didn’t have the unscented Nair I use, and I wanted to try the little bladeless razor.

It’s way easier than using a washcloth to remove the cream, and it’s kinda fun! Being able to cleanly remove the cream without a messy cloth, and using a “razor” with no worries about cutting myself is nifty.

Not sure if I’d ever buy the Veet again. It worked just fine, but it’s kinda expensive, and I prefer a squeeze tube/bottle to a pressurized bottle. But I’m definitely keeping the “Rasera” to use again, no matter what brand I use. ^_^

Random Question of the Day

Why do some people insist on signing their name to forum posts? We see your name when we read your post. We know it’s you! You don’t have to keep telling us.

My favourite are the ones who sign their name at the end of a post, and also have their name as their signature.

I’m taking 5 online classes this summer. The online “conferencing” is set up like an old-school “threaded” (ie not flat) forum. You see the person’s name next to the message title before you even see the message. Then you see their name above their message.

One of my profs keeps signing her name at the end of all her messages, but never even uses a closing period or even a carriage return, so her final sentence always ends with her name.

Gah.
