To Busy to Blog? Say it isn’t so!

If anyone’s wondering, I had a very nice birthday last weekend! ^_^ 24 now, go me!

Went to a wedding that weekend, too. Josh’s step-brother’s wedding. It was actually pretty nice, and the rain held off until the end of the ceremony (unlike my cousin’s wedding last year, heh), but there were still lots of “we’re not doing that at ours” moments.

Busy with summer semester classes, too. Most are online, though, so it’s not too bad.
We’ve started biking to our one class that is at school, though. Saves money on parking and gas, and gets us excersizing. The first day of class, we discovered just how woefully out of shape we all were. Getting better, now. I should drag out the home DDR set and do that more often, too.

Busy with the site, too. Getting ready for my next (last?) big move. Yup, that’s right, changing again. Bad business practice, but it turns out the company that owns kittycaps.com is starting up a business that makes hats for cats. Seriously. I found that out when I wrote a letter to the company owner to ask if I could buy kittycaps.com (because people can’t remember the .ca extension). I really don’t feel like competing with that sort of thing; thought it’s not technically competition since it’s a completely different product and market. I just figure it’s similar enough to confuse the people who already aren’t sure how to find me, so I’m eleminating the possibility. I’m hoping to be able to scrape together enough money to actually trademark my new name, not just register it with the government. That’s like $300, though, so we’ll have to see.

Our house is full of crickets. I hate crickets. I hate them more in my house.
The guy who lives in the basement (the landlord’s son) was renovating all last fall/winter, so the ground-level windows were off the house for about 4 or 5 months, so we figure the original ones got in then since that’s when we started occasionally hearing cricket chirps in the wall by the stairs. This past week, however, they’ve been coming out of the woodwork. Literally. At least two must have gotten in and gotten busy, and now they’re proud parents because in the past 4 days we’ve killed 17 crickets and found 3 more dead in a spider web under a step. Up until yesterday it was kinda funny, because we were having a competition between the 3 of us to see who could “hunt” and kill the most (we use a dustbuster!), but yesterday there was 7 of the 10, and it went from “annoyingly amusing” to “downright stupid” so now we’re gonna call the landlord and complain about the infestation. It’s gone well beyond a reasonable “bugs in the house” level.
Stupid crickets.

Someday, I want to not be poor, and live in a house where only I, Josh, and the cat(s) live. No roaches (Jane & Finch appt.), no squirrels or raccoons (basement appt.), no ants (Josh’s appt.), and no crickets (here). Gah.

Today

My grandpa was in surgery for 6 hours today for his quadruple bypass. He’s had 3 heart attacks in the past 3 months.

He was supposed to be done around 12 or 1:00. We haven’t heard anything yet, so I guess that’s a good sign.

OH NOES! DA TERRORZ!

Terror symbol Interpretations.
A site of warning symbols taken from a real (?) US government site, and given better meanings.

It’s been posted many times, but it’s worth posting again. It made me laugh out loud for a good 5 minutes, much the the annoyance of Josh and the cat. ^_^

Sample:

If you spot terrorism, blow your anti-terrorism whistle. If you are Vin Diesel, yell really loud.

My Re-Ward!

In honour of making it through exams without killing anyone, I went and got my ears pierced again. I went to this place in Guelph called Stigmata, and they were really good. Very clean, very nice.
Since I don’t have any more room on my lobes (I’ve already got 3 there) I got my helix (outer cartillage) done. Hurt less than I anticipated; is more sensitive post-piercing than I’d hoped. I had to make myself a new C-shaped pillow to sleep on because I kept rolling onto my sides while sleeping and waking myself up from the pain of crushing my new wounds. Owie. Good thing I have meters and meters of fabric and a sewing machine around, eh? ^_^

Anyway, here’s a pic. All hail the all-mighty power of my ear. It looks all shiny because I just gave it my morning clean with the Bactine solution. … Um, I mean, I always look that polished and shiny. Yes yes.
( So I says ‘I need that like I need a hole in the head!’ )

Stupid Web Host

Bah. I went to my web host’s site to check the cost of upgrading to their next level package because I’m running short on both webspace and bandwidth. Lo and behold, they’ve changed all the specs!
They increased bandwidth for the smallest package from 3G to 10G
They increased webspace from 50Mb to 350Mb
They increased the number of email accounts from 5 to 10

I think “Great! I won’t have to upgrade after all!”

Except they also made all this available to “new customers only” for the next month. >_<

I guess it makes sense as a promotion, but I can’t help but feel kinda annoyed. I went to their site with the intent of giving them more money only to find out that since I’m not “new”, my money won’t buy as much as someone else’s will, and then after that I couldn’t even find out what is available to me.
I sent them an email asking what I’d be getting if I upgraded my plan, but it’s only been 10 minutes so they have not replied yet. ^_~
If it wasn’t for the fact that I don’t have the cash to buy a whole new plan (if you upgrade, you only have to pay the difference), it would almost be enough to make me resign up as a “new” client just to get the deal. ^_~

So blah. I’m ticked off now. And I still need more space and bandwidth.

We are, we are, we are, we are the Engineers!

Yesterday at school the Guelph the Engineers gave us all a show. I was bored to death waiting for my next class and hanging out in the University Centre, when all these people run through in their underwear. Their tighty-whighty underwear. Most wore a second pair of underwear below the first, but it was still funny. The girls had white panties and tank tops.
They all had “GE” (for Guelph Engineering?) written on their ass in the General Electric letter style.

They were all singing that engineering song I hear from Dan at the top of their lungs.
Here’s the lyrics, according to some random guy who apparently goes to Guelph. There’s also additional lyrics, as submitted by people at other schools.

And thus, I was amused. ^_^

Though I’m pretty sure the Biologists don’t have a song. Then again, we don’t run around campus in our underwear, either.
